"Vida" is a latin pop song by Guatemalan recording artist Ricardo Arjona, released on 7 December 2010 as the second single from his twelfth studio album, Poquita Ropa (2010). The song was written by Arjona, who produced it with longtime collaborators Dan Warner and Lee Levin under their stage name Los Gringos. The song is considered to be an autobiographical song for the singer, and its lyrics are based on "matters of identity".

An accompanying music video for "Vida" was released in November 2010. It was directed by Joaquín Cambré and filmed in Mexico, and "represent[s] that mix of feelings crafting an ambience of hope inside of a story that inetivably has a tragic end." The video was used as part of the feature film Poquita Ropa — Una Historia Apasionada as well as on Arjona's Metamorfosis World Tour. As of 28 July 2012, the video has reached 3.9 million views on YouTube.

American singer Selena has released five studio albums, three live albums, three boxsets, two remix albums, one soundtrack album, and twenty compilation albums. Credited for elevating a music genre into the mainstream market, Selena remains the best-selling Tejano recording artist whose posthumous releases continue to outsell those of living musicians. and continues to outsell living musicians. As of 2015, the singer has sold 60 million copies worldwide, and was named the "Top Latin Artist of the '90s" and "Best-selling Latin Artist of the Decade" by Billboard magazine.

Selena's career began as lead vocalist of Los Dinos in 1980. Her albums with Los Dinos on the indie labels failed to gain any chart success. She signed with EMI Latin nine years later as a solo artist though her band continued to tour with her. She released her self-titled debut album that same year, which peaked at number seven on the U.S. Billboard Regional Mexican Albums chart. With Selena, the singer outsold other competing female Tejano artists. Her second album, Ven Conmigo, was released a year later and was billed as the first Tejano recording by a female musician to achieve gold status in the United States.

Pies Descalzos (English: Bare Feet) is the third studio album and major-label debut by Colombian singer-songwriter Shakira, released on October 6, 1995, by Sony Music and Columbia Records. Its music incorporates Latin pop styles, additionally experimenting with pop rock elements. Looking to revive her struggling career after the commercial failures of her first two studio efforts Magia and Peligro, she assumed a prominent position in its production. As executive producer, Luis Fernando Ochoa co-wrote and co-produced each of the eleven tracks on the record with Shakira.

In retrospect, Pies Descalzos received generally favorable reviews from music critics, who complimented it as a strong debut showing. Commercially, the project became Shakira's breakthrough record, with which she established notability throughout Latin America. It was awarded the "Diamond Prism" in her native Colombia, acknowledging one million copies sold in the nation. The album additionally peaked at numbers three and five on the US Billboard Latin Pop Albums and Latin Albums component charts, respectively. It was later certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). To date, the record has sold over five million copies worldwide.
